The Bochum University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Bochum) is based in the city of Bochum, the sixth-largest in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is a mid-sized university offering a range of Bachelor's and Master's courses across its major departments of Construction, Engineering and Business.

Founded in 1971 as a state college, it was renamed the Bochum University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Bochum) in 2007. It is a mid-sized university with 7000 students. The university offers 50 Bachelor's and 15 Master's degree programs.

The university’s architectural courses are regularly ranked in the top five Centre for Higher Education (CHE) listings by subject, thanks in large to the excellent facilities for students. The Civil Engineering and Geodesy departments are also highly regarded. Some courses, such as the flagship MSc in Geothermal Energy Systems, are taught in English. The majority of courses are taught at the main Bochum Campus, whilst the nearby Velbert/Heiligenhaus Campus offers a number of apprenticeship courses in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering.
