Course description
Building on their outstanding and internationally recognized strengths in African Studies, the Universität Bayreuth (UBT) in Germany, the Université Bordeaux Montaigne (UBM) in France, and the Universidade do Porto (UP) in Portugal have developed a Joint Master Programme under the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) framework. The “European Interdisciplinary Master African Studies” (EIMAS) will lead the way in innovative teaching methods for African Studies. This program offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers a wide range of subjects. Students will delve into African history, politics, culture, and languages. They will also explore contemporary issues such as development, migration, and environmental challenges. The EIMAS program aims to equip students with a deep understanding of the African continent through an interdisciplinary approach. The collaboration between UBT, UBM, and UP ensures that students benefit from diverse academic perspectives and expertise. This joint effort fosters an inclusive and supportive learning environment, encouraging students to engage critically with the material and with each other. A very good (B) overall grade for the Bachelor programme from a recognised university in the field of Social Sciences or Humanities (African Languages and Cultures, History, Cultural Anthropology, Sociology, Geography, Development Studies, Political Science, Public Administration or other studies related to the Social Sciences) or convincing application of other academic disciplines
