Course description
The master's program in mathematics guides students from a specific mathematical subfield to tackling contemporary research problems. It also builds on the foundational knowledge gained during the bachelor's degree. This course aims to equip graduates with the skills to quickly and independently master new areas beyond mathematics. To achieve this, the curriculum includes studying an application subject. The two-year program starts with a year of coursework, followed by a study project and culminating in a master's thesis. Students can choose from applied systems science, business administration, cognitive science, geoinformatics, computer science, physics, or economics as their application subject.

Applicants must also have proven knowledge of the English language have language level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). (4) English language skills apply if this language is not the applicant’s native language is, as proven by 4 ● Proof of eight years of successfully completed school English or ● Proof of successfully completing a language course at language level B1 (GER) or ● a passed IELTS (with at least 3.5) or an equivalent language test
Qualification Requirements
1The prerequisite for admission to the master's program in “Mathematics” is that the applicant a) has acquired a bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree in the "Mathematics" course of study or in another subject-specific course of study either at a German university or at a university that belongs to one of the Bologna signatory states, or b) an equivalent degree in a subject from another foreign university has acquired suitable previous studies; the equivalence will be determined according to the requirements the evaluation proposals from the Central Office for Foreign Education at the Secretariat the Conference of Ministers of Education established that as well as c) provides evidence of the requirements in accordance with paragraphs 3 to 4. 2 A course of study is technically suitable if coursework in mathematics amounts to: at least 90 credit points can be demonstrated. 3If the curriculum is designed accordingly, the Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Systems Science or 2-subject Bachelor's degree programs with a core or main subject in Mathematics may be suitable. 4The The selection committee makes the decision as to whether the previous course of study is technically suitable (§ 5); The positive finding can be linked to the requirement that modules are still missing A maximum of 15 credit points can be completed within two semesters.
