Step 1 - Find your Study Program
University of Osnabruck
Osnabrück
Cognitive Science
Subjects: Science;Psychology
M.Sc. | Master of Science
Course description
Cognitive Science aims to explore cognitive abilities like perceiving, thinking, planning, learning, speaking, and acting. This young discipline delves into these abilities and their (neuro-)physiological foundations through both experimental and theoretical lenses. It seeks to explain human language and non-verbal behavior, study perception and motor skills, and develop intelligent systems using modern machine learning methods. Philosophical questions about cognitive abilities and the ethical use of artificial intelligence are also considered. The field employs a range of methods, from mathematical techniques to psychological and neuroscientific experiments, computer models of mental processes, and philosophical reflection. Study subjects include human language, non-verbal behavior, perception, motor skills, and the development of intelligent systems. The study program names reflect these diverse areas, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of cognitive science. By focusing on these areas, Cognitive Science fosters an inclusive and empathetic approach to understanding the human mind. It emphasizes clarity and impact, avoiding confusing language and maintaining a human touch. This approach ensures that the discipline remains accessible and relevant, promoting trust and understanding in its exploration of cognitive abilities.
