Course description
The MA British, American, and Postcolonial Studies Program is now open for applications! You can submit your application between May 1 and July 15. All the necessary requirements are detailed on the "Apply" page. To be eligible, you need a BA degree in English Studies or a related field, along with excellent English skills, which must be documented by a language certificate. Recently, first-semester students in the MA British, American, and Postcolonial Studies Program had the chance to visit the university's Rare Books Reading Room. They viewed early printed books as part of the introductory Book Studies course, Text, Book, and Culture. This course explores the role of books and texts in cultural history. Book Studies is one of the three core areas of the MA BAPS program. Notably, the WWU is the only university in Germany offering Book Studies with an Anglophone focus.

A prerequisite for entry is excellent English language skills at this level C2 according to the European reference framework. 2For applicants whose native language is not English, these are proven by the Cambridge Proficiency Exam (CPE) with grades A, B or C or the Cambridge Advanced Exam (CAE) with grades A or B or an equivalent language certificate. 3The equivalence represents the Commission determined.
Qualification Requirements
1The prerequisite for admission to the master's program "British, American and Postcolonial Studies" is, in addition to the general requirements for enrollment, the completion of a subject-relevant or subject-comparable course of study with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters, with a bachelor's degree or another vocational qualification has been successfully completed. 2Technically relevant in The meaning of sentence 1 is a course of study in the field of English-language literature, culture and/or language at a German or foreign university. 3Technically comparable are courses in other philologies, cultural studies, media studies and Communication science, if they have a focus on the field of English-language literature, culture and/or language. 4If you have any doubts about the Equivalence of degrees outside the scope of the Basic Law A report from the Secretariat of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education of the Federal Republic of Germany on the equivalence of the degrees will be obtained.
Document Requirements
Proof of general university entrance qualification or a qualification recognized as equivalent by the responsible state body 2. Evidence of the existence of a first professional qualification according to § 3 paragraph 1. If there is no final certificate at the time of application in accordance with Section 3 Paragraph 1, a provisional certificate must be submitted that includes at least the grades from the first five semesters (corresponding to at least 120 credit points). This is not a provisional certificate from the university created, the Transcript of Records is sufficient for the time being. The final certificate according to § 3 In the event of admission, paragraph 1 must be presented upon registration. 3. Evidence of sufficient language skills in accordance with Section 3 Paragraph 2 4. Tabular CV 5. Certified proof of the achievements achieved during the initial course of study and courses attended (transcript of records) 6. If applicable, proof of stays abroad, practical professional experience, or other additional qualifications.
