Course description
The programme zeroes in on leveraging economic theory and empirical methods to grasp, model, and assess real-world economic issues. In the compulsory subject area of Quantitative Economics, students gain advanced expertise in economic theory and econometrics. These skills are then applied across a wide range of economic topics within the programme’s five optional subject areas: Econometrics and Applied Economics, International Financial Economics, Macroeconomics and International Economics, Microeconomics and Decision Making, and Public Economics. In Quantitative Economics, students delve deep into economic theory and econometrics, equipping themselves with the tools needed to tackle complex economic problems. This foundational knowledge is crucial as they explore the optional subjects. Econometrics and Applied Economics focus on the practical application of econometric techniques to real-world data, helping students understand economic relationships and test hypotheses. International Financial Economics examines the dynamics of global financial markets, exchange rates, and international capital flows, providing insights into the interconnectedness of global economies. Macroeconomics and International Economics cover broad economic factors such as inflation, unemployment, and economic growth, as well as the economic interactions between countries.
