Responsibility in Science | Engineering & Technology (RESET)
Subjects: Responsibility;Engineering;Technology
M.A. | Master of Arts
Course description
Responsibility has become a central issue in today's discussions on governance, economic growth, sustainable development, and social progress. This is evident in frameworks like Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In a world marked by growing economic and political uncertainty, RESET addresses serious challenges. How can we foresee and manage the social, ethical, or environmental impacts of scientific and technological advancements? What defines sustainable, reflexive, or democratic innovation? Which interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary forms of knowledge production foster responsibility? How do concepts of responsibility vary across different regulatory, cultural, and policy contexts? How should expert knowledge and technical capabilities shape democracies, markets, and societies? Conversely, how can we democratize expertise and technology development? These questions are crucial. They demand a thoughtful approach to integrating responsibility into every aspect of innovation and governance. By addressing these issues, we can create a more inclusive, ethical, and sustainable future.
