Geodesy & Geoinformation
Subjects: Geodesy;Geoinformatics;Geography
M.Sc. | Master of Science
Course description
Geodesy is all about mapping and understanding our living spaces through precise measurements and geoinformation processing. Geodesists play a crucial role in describing, organizing, and documenting these spaces based on specific characteristics. They also contribute to the design and transformation of these areas. Using tools like theodolites, laser scanners, and cameras, along with advanced information systems, satellite technology, and digital remote sensing sensors, geodesists develop automated, computer-aided methods to record, process, analyze, and visualize spatial data. Their work spans from global earth measurements via satellites to regional terrain surveys from aircraft, down to local engineering surveys of structures and machinery. The geoinformation they gather ensures legal certainty for citizens in official surveys and is essential for creative, regulatory, and planning activities. Geodetic methods are increasingly vital in disaster management, environmental risk assessment, and research into the Earth and other planets. In the master's degree program in Geodesy and Geoinformation, students delve deeper into areas like engineering surveying, photogrammetry, remote sensing, earth measurement, satellite geodesy, cartography, geoinformatics, land management, and land development. Building on the bachelor's degree foundation, students choose from nine study
