Course description

The international Master's degree program in Water Engineering (WEM) is a cutting-edge, consecutive course focusing on water engineering within environmental engineering. This full-time program spans four semesters, during which students earn 120 ECTS credits. Entirely taught in English, it targets those with a Bachelor's in civil engineering, environmental engineering, renewable energies, or similar fields. This Master's program shapes future experts in tackling water-related environmental challenges. Students delve into hydraulic design and planning of hydropower plants for renewable energy, near-natural construction methods for water structures, retention systems, and sustainable urban water management. They also explore wastewater treatment technologies and ecohydraulic measures to enhance water quality. Key areas of study include hydraulic, hydrological, and groundwater-related modeling, with a strong emphasis on numerical methods. Students gain knowledge in methods for remediating contaminated water bodies. The program offers excellent opportunities for a semester abroad at one of the European partner universities through the ERASMUS program in the third semester. This program equips students with the skills and knowledge to address complex water engineering issues, fostering a deep understanding of sustainable practices and innovative solutions in environmental engineering.
