Course description

This program is crafted for graduate engineers specializing in naval architecture, offshore engineering, mechanical engineering, and related fields. It aims to provide advanced knowledge across a wide array of ship and offshore technologies. The course spans two years and is a collaborative effort with Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), a prominent and innovative German institution. In the first year, you'll study at Strathclyde. The second year takes place in Hamburg. Upon completion, the degree is awarded jointly by both universities. Before starting your second year in Hamburg, you can take an intensive German language course. This is available as a four-week summer school in August or a three-week course in October.

Qualification Requirements

Normally a first-class or second-class honours degree (or international equivalent), in a marine or marinerelated engineering subject. Knowledge of structural mechanics,hydrostatics, fluid dynamics, ship resistance and propulsion and ship design is essential.

Curriculum vitae / résumé TUHH does not require or provide any standard format for the CV. The CV must not consist of more than 2 pages. If your final degree certificate is not yet available, you need to submit an official provisional degree certificate or an official letter of your registrar, dean or academic supervisor, listing the remaining subjects and, if possible, the prospective grades as well as the prospective final grade average. Proof of English (TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, CPE or telc) Applicants whose native language is not English must submit a valid proof of proficiency in English up to the application deadline. The minimum overall IELTS score for admission to TUHH is 6.5. a valid Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English a valid Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English a valid “telc English C1”-result The Master's degree courses in Mechanical Engineering and Management and Mechatronics are partly taught in German. For these courses a basic knowledge of German is strongly recommended. Anyhow a formal proof of German is not required for the application. APS certificate All applicants with a school or university degree from China, India or Vietnam, regardless of their nationality, have to submit an APS certificate with their application for admission! Applicants who hold a scholarship from DAAD, another recognized German scholarship organization or an EU-funded scholarship might be exempted from this requirement.
