Course description

Bochum’s Centre for Religious Studies (CERES) offers a top-notch, research-driven infrastructure for the Master’s degree programme. This centre is deeply connected with various related disciplines, forming an interdisciplinary research network. Students can specialise in several fields, including the material history of religion, which covers six elective religious traditions. Other areas of focus are systematic religious studies, religious research, and applied religious studies. This setup ensures a comprehensive and focused academic experience.

All applicants need to prove very good proficiency in English, i.e. at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). English from 5th grade until Abitur in Germany a minimum score of 72 in the internet-based TOEFL a minimum score of 5.0 in the IELTS a certificate of the language centre of Heidelberg University with "good" (2.0) or better

Qualification Requirements

a B.A. degree, language competencies in a source language relevant for religious studies (e.g. Hebraic, Korean or Sanskrit), basic understanding of socio-empirical methods

Officially certified copy of school report (original language and a German or English translation) Degree certificate from the university in an officially certified copy (original language and a German or English translation) + list of individual grades Possibly proof of the completed university entrance examination (e.g. from Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, etc.) in an officially certified copy Possibly an officially certified copy of the assessment test to determine the eligibility of foreign applicants for studies at institutions of higher education in Germany (Feststellungsprüfung) APS certificate (only for applicants with certificates from China, Vietnam or India) Please note collective APS for other universities are not accepted!
