Course description
The work-study MA Dance Teacher Programme is designed for professional dancers and dance teachers who want to enhance their teaching skills. This program is ideal for those aiming to become ballet masters, rehearsal directors, or educators in professional training institutions, community dance settings, or dance companies and theatres. For those without a professional dance background, the specialisation "Dance Teacher for Community Dance" is available, provided they demonstrate equivalent aptitude. Students can choose to focus on Ballet or Contemporary/Modern Dance and specialise as a Ballet Master/Rehearsal Director, Dance Teacher in professional training, or in Community Dance. The Master Dance Teacher course is interdisciplinary, covering subjects such as dance pedagogy, methodology and didactics, dance history, dance medicine, psychology, teaching practice, rehearsal assistance, improvisation, Laban, and composition. This program fosters an inclusive and supportive environment, ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, can develop their skills and achieve their professional goals.

Qualification Requirements
Requirements for admission to the work-study Master’s Degree Programme Dance Teacher are: 1. A particular artistic aptitude according to Section 17 (11) SächsHSFG, to be determined according to Appendix 2 of the Admission Regulations 2. A general or subject-specific university entrance qualification according to Section 17 (2) SächsHSFG 3. A recently acquired professionally recognized university diploma, or professional experience as dancer or as dance teacher of, as a rule, not less than a year 4. Pedagogical/Teaching Aptitude/Suitability 5. English skills at least at the C1 reference level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Document Requirements
The following must be submitted with the application for admission: • Motivation letter according to No. 1b) of Appendix 1 of the Admission Regulations • Copies or transcripts of educational certificates • Copies or transcripts regarding the highest educational qualification and professional practice, • Evidence concerning the periods of study to date as well as results of the studies or exams and a clearance certificate issued by the examination office • A curriculum vitae (CV) in tabular form with precise information regarding previous education and professional experience • Proof of payment of the application fee (e.g. copy of a bank account statement) • Proof of knowledge of the English language according to Section 2 (1); for English language native speakers the submission of proof does not apply • Video or video link according to Section 2 (1) for applicants who must submit evidence of their artistic aptitude by means of an aptitude test; see Appendix 2 of these regulations for more detailed information • Any other documents for the determination of qualifications in artistic and/or pedagogical fields according to Section 2 (1).
