Course description
Students immerse themselves in a rich and varied dance education. They engage in practical classes with a diverse array of teachers from our staff and guest instructors. These classes cover classical ballet, contemporary and modern dance, improvisation, pas de deux, partnering, repertoire, and composition. Through this, they acquire a range of skills, techniques, and approaches, fostering both freedom and strength in their dancing. In addition to practical training, students attend theoretical seminars and lectures. These cover subjects like dramaturgy, dance and art history and analysis, Laban analysis technique, dance and media, dance and architecture, and dance management. This comprehensive approach allows students to gain different perspectives and a deeper understanding of dance's various layers, meanings, and contexts. They also develop practical skills essential for a professional career in dance. This holistic program ensures that students not only refine their physical abilities but also enrich their intellectual grasp of the art form, preparing them for diverse opportunities in the dance world.

Qualification Requirements
Prerequisites for admission to the BA Dance Programme are: 1. a general or subject-specific university entrance qualification according to Section 17 (2) SächsHSFG, 2. a particular artistic aptitude according to Section 4 and Section 5 of these regulations as well as 3. English language skills at least at reference level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In cases of exceptional artistic aptitude, proof of a university or subject-specific university entrance qualification can be dispensed with as according to Section 17 (11) SächsHSFG.
Document Requirements
In addition to the documents listed under Section 2 (2), the following documents must be provided by registration at the latest: • clearance from a medical specialist (Sport Medicine or Orthopaedic) for admission to the dance programme as preparation for the dance profession • Copies or transcripts of educational certificates (in the event of a middle-level secondary school certificate, the certificate for the 9th grade, the school certificate for the 10th grade shall be submitted at a later time, or in the event of another form of a university entrance qualification, the respective information for the last term.), • if appropriate, evidence concerning the study periods to date as well as results of the studies or tests and a clearance certificate issued by the examination office; and • proof of English language skills as according to Section 1. As proof of English language skills, the following language certificates shall be recognized: Cambridge Certificate: Preliminary English Test (PET) TOEFL (iBT): Score of a minimum of 42 points IELTS: at least Band 4.0 UNICERT: at least Level I For English language native speakers the submission of proof is not required.
