Qualification Requirements
The MA course Computational Linguistics in Heidelberg normally demands a good Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computational Linguistics at a German or international university (in cases of a joint degree in two or more subjects, Computational Linguistics has to account for at least 50% of the degree program). However, we check all applications on individual merit. To fulfill the admissions criteria for the Master, you will have to show basic knowledge in three areas: Linguistics: Introduction into Formal Linguistics, Syntax and Semantics Mathematics: Statistics and Probability Theory, Linear Algebra, Machine Learning Programming: two programming languages (for example, Python and Java) If you studied Computational Linguistics only as secondary subject or if you only studied a strongly related subject (such as Artificial Intelligence), it might be possible to prove the knowledge needed via specific individual modules, work experience or additional online courses.
