Course description

The master's degree program at the Heidelberg Center for Ibero-American Studies (HCIAS) offers students a rich, interdisciplinary education focused on the unique aspects of Ibero-American societies. Qualification Requirements

The MA course Computational Linguistics in Heidelberg normally demands a good Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computational Linguistics at a German or international university (in cases of a joint degree in two or more subjects, Computational Linguistics has to account for at least 50% of the degree program). However, we check all applications on individual merit. To fulfill the admissions criteria for the Master, you will have to show basic knowledge in three areas: Linguistics: Introduction into Formal Linguistics, Syntax and Semantics Mathematics: Statistics and Probability Theory, Linear Algebra, Machine Learning Programming: two programming languages (for example, Python and Java) If you studied Computational Linguistics only as secondary subject or if you only studied a strongly related subject (such as Artificial Intelligence), it might be possible to prove the knowledge needed via specific individual modules, work experience or additional online courses.

English language skills analogous to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (proven by school certificate, the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or equivalent); 4. special professional aptitude, proven e.g. by the BA thesis, vocational training, professional experience or other achievements that demonstrate suitability for the chosen degree program.
