Course description
The master’s degree programme in Economic Geography at Leibniz Universität Hannover offers a unique opportunity for some students to pursue a double degree with the University of Groningen. In this track, students spend their first year in Hannover and their second year in Groningen. In Hannover, the focus is on the intersection of economics and geography. Here, students delve into the economic aspects of geography and the geographical aspects of the economy. They explore how global processes like environmental change, migration, and the digitalisation of the economy impact different regions. These impacts can vary significantly from one region to another. To tackle these challenges, students learn to explain complex interrelations using theoretical knowledge. They also gain skills in empirically investigating regional development processes. Additionally, they learn to develop sound regional policy strategies for action. This programme equips students with the tools to understand and address the diverse economic and geographical issues that regions face today.
