Course description
The master's program offers a unique chance to dive into both basic research and application-oriented projects. In biochemistry, you'll explore the dynamics and processes of protein genesis and their interactions within and outside cells. These processes are crucial for understanding and developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases and tumors. Molecular biology focuses on molecular processes at the cellular and organismal levels, paving the way for advancements in genomic research, cell and systems biology, and plant and animal physiology. You'll tackle current research questions in both biochemistry and molecular biology, gaining deep knowledge of biological databases and internet-based resources. You'll also learn to apply systems biology to analyze and interpret high-throughput data. Additionally, you'll master various manipulation and detection techniques and experiment with new methods in nanobiotechnology. This program equips you with the skills and knowledge to excel in the ever-evolving fields of biochemistry and molecular biology.

Qualification Requirements
In general, the prerequisite for master’s studies at the University of Potsdam is an academic degree, such as a bachelor’s degree. Your first degree should be in a subject that is relevant to your course of study, for example in the biosciences, biochemistry, biotechnology, or biomedicine. To be admitted to the program, you must provide documentation of your knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry in the form of at least 60 credit points/ECTS. Because this degree program is taught in English, very good English skills are required, corresponding at least to the B2 level of the Common European Reference Framework for Languages. Applicants whose native language is not German must demonstrate sufficient German language proficiency corresponding to Level A2 (CEFR).
