Course description
SINReM is a two-year Master’s program offering 120 ECTS credits, taught entirely in English. Coordinated by Ghent University in Belgium, it also involves TU Bergakademie Freiberg in Germany and Uppsala University in Sweden. Graduates earn a joint diploma: International Master of Science in Sustainable and Innovative Natural Resource Management. This program has earned the EIT Label, a mark of excellence from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. It emphasizes innovative and sustainable methods for managing both primary and secondary resources. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, from mining, exploration, and extraction processes to recovery and recycling technologies. This includes clean technology and CO2-neutral recovery of resources from wastewater and waste streams. SINReM integrates scientific and technological fields with economic, environmental, and entrepreneurial aspects. The program places a strong focus on technological feasibility, sustainability, and the principles of a circular economy. The teaching approach is holistic, ensuring students gain a comprehensive understanding of these critical areas.

Qualification Requirements
Hold a Bachelor degree (equivalent to at least 180 ECTS credits *) in a discipline closely related to the SINReM scope (see above for examples). ** Have a strong background in science (equivalent to at least 15 ECTS credits in mathematics and/or physics and 10 ECTS credits in chemistry). ** Have completed your previous degree(s) with very good or excellent grades (typically top 30% of your students cohort). Submit a convincing motivation letter with your application, which shows that the SINReM scope matches your previous education and future goals. Fulfil the English language requirements listed below.
