Course description

To keep up with the global demand for mineral raw materials, we need to push forward with extraction in geosphere areas that have high mining geological complexity and intricate interactions with both the environment and society. Our main goal is to ensure the utmost safety for the public and mining operations, while acting responsibly towards the environment and society. We must also make the best use of natural resources. To achieve this, we need to integrate all steps in the extraction process into an "end-to-end" perspective. This allows for transparent communication of sustainable process indicators between steps and among all project participants and stakeholders. This integration relies on state-of-the-art sensor technologies to gather georeferenced data, advanced methods for extracting and analyzing information, and their incorporation into decision-making models like deposit models or environmental impact predictions. This approach demands core competencies in surveying technology, sensor technology, data processing, geoinformatics, and geomodeling. In essence, it requires expertise in "GEOMATICS."
