English proficiency: proof of level C1 CEFR • Evidence of language proficiency can be provided by a certificate for passing a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the test of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at level C1 or higher or by providing equivalent proof (please refer to the table of equivalence published by the FAU Language Center). • A letter of application in English, no more than two pages in length, in which the candidate explains why they are qualified for admission to the degree program. • If available: proof of qualified practical experience in the field of development economics as well as a description of relevant professional experience written in English by the applicant (description of tasks and responsibilities), one page in length.English C1

Qualification Requirements

The Master’s degree program is open to students with a Bachelor’s degree in economics or a related field. Applicants should have at least 70 ECTS in economics/management including at least basic knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and statistics/econometrics (a minimum of 5 ECTS each). It is, however, possible to complete up to 20 ECTS of the qualification requirements during the MA DEIS program. Students admitted to the program will need to earn the missing ECTS during their first year of studies. Missing courses can be completed at FAU.
