Course description

Biochemistry delves into the molecules that make life possible, forming the foundation of life sciences by merging chemistry, biology, physiology, and biophysics. It focuses on analyzing biochemical systems and reconstructing biological systems through synthetic biochemistry. In the Master's degree program in Biochemistry at the University of Bonn, students receive both theoretical and practical training in core areas of biochemistry. This training is grounded in cutting-edge biochemical research and delivered through lecture series, methods courses, and laboratory rotations. The program also includes partnerships with other institutions. Students gain deep knowledge in subjects like the chemical biology of nucleic acids, lipids, lipidomics, metabolomics, membrane protein biophysics, and the biochemical basis of neurophysiology. They use advanced technologies and methods, guided by experienced and internationally recognized scientists. The program provides access to a robust research environment, focusing on immunology and metabolism, both at the University of Bonn and other scientific institutions in the city. This comprehensive approach ensures students are well-prepared for future scientific endeavors.
