For the Master's programme in Languages and Cultures of East Asia, very good knowledge of English is strongly recommended, especially in the area of reading skills at level C1 of the CEFR.
Qualification Requirements
For the Master's programme, in accordance with the Bachelor's programme, knowledge of two East Asian foreign languages (Chinese, Japanese and/or Korean, 40 CP each) is mandatory. The required language competencies roughly correspond to levels B2 (for oral competencies), B1 (for written text production) or B2 with portions of C1 for reading competencies (for reading comprehension of non-fiction and specialized texts) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Applicants must also demonstrate knowledge of pre-modern language levels as well as one semester of study abroad in an East Asian sub-region amounting to 30 CP.
