Course description
The Palucca University of Dance Dresden offers a two-year MA Choreography Programme designed to enhance your creative skills with the right tools. This program blends theoretical and practical knowledge in a cohesive course structure, providing numerous opportunities to develop your unique choreographic voice. Our flexible module system simplifies your studies, encourages residencies, and helps you maintain your professional network. You'll engage with other art forms and creative educational institutions in Dresden, Saxony, and beyond, gaining fresh and individual inspirations. We welcome choreographers who experiment with various styles and dance techniques, aiming to strengthen these through specific perspectives and approaches. The curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including new media, architecture, stage technology, psychology, and management. Qualification Requirements
The requirements for admission to the English-language Master's Degree Programme in Choreography are: 1. A general or subject-specific qualification for entrance to a university or university of applied sciences, in accordance with Section 17 (2) SächsHSFG 2. Generally several years of experience as a dancer 3. A commenced career as a choreographer or the successful presentation of the applicant's own pieces of choreography as well as proof of professional practical experience of usually not less than one year, 4. English language skills to at least the reference level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Document Requirements
The following documents must be enclosed with the application for admission: a) Copies of the certificates regarding the qualification for entrance to a university or university of applied sciences and the professional experience b) An application letter with a description of the applicant's artistic and cultural interests and his motivations for applying for the degree programme c) The concept of the applicant's own piece of choreography which is to be presented for the audition d) A portfolio of previous work in the area of the performing arts e) Two references f) A tabular curriculum vitae with precise information on the applicant's education to date, as well as his artistic career g) Evidence of previous periods of study, as well as study and/or examination results and a clearance certificate issued by the examination office, if applicable h) Proof of knowledge of the English language according to Section 2 (1) English native speakers do not have to submit evidence of this. i) Proof of payment of the application fee (e.g. copy of a bank account statement). The documents listed in b), c) and d) must be submitted in English. The documents listed in a), e), f), g) and h) can be submitted in either German or English. If original documents are only available in a language other than German or English, these must be submitted together with a certified translation into English or German.
