Merz Akademie University of Applied Art, Design and Media, Stuttgart
Stuttgart
Research in Design, Art & Media
Subjects: Design;Art;Media
M.Sc. | Master of Science
Course description
The Master of Arts program, Research in Design, Art and Media – Designing the Future, offers you significant freedom in shaping your studies and choosing the media for your project. Your work will be situated between the expansive realms of “experimental world building” and “experimental documentary practice.” With close individual supervision, you will develop a long-term project throughout the entire study program. You will benefit from the diverse group of students and enhance your practical skills in Merz Akademie’s various labs, including virtual reality, sound studio, green box/video and media lab, screen printing, photo studio, print/scan lab, and bookbinding. In a world marked by catastrophic wars, rising authoritarianism, global inequalities, and the devastating effects of climate change, alongside the challenges of a rapidly evolving mediascape and the swift growth of AI, we turn to art and design. These fields serve as models of human activity that can help us create new ways of working, thinking, and living together.
