Course description
The postgraduate study programme “International Health” is hosted by the Institute of International Health at Charité – Universitäsmedizin Berlin. It offers a master’s course and two diploma courses. This discipline focuses on health issues in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). The goal is to achieve equity in health, promote healthy lifestyles, reduce health risks, and ensure universal health coverage. Key tasks include: - Describing and analyzing health and its determinants at the population level - Promoting and protecting health - Preventing and treating diseases, including rehabilitation - Strengthening health systems - Informing health policy - Fostering international solidarity and collaboration The studies combine Public Health, Epidemiology, Tropical Medicine, Medical Anthropology, Health Economics, Management Science, and related subjects. There are 13 advanced modules available for master’s students to choose from, based on their interests and abilities.

English proficiency. Proof of proficiency in English, e.g. TOEFL (550 paper / 80 online), IELTS (6+) test score. Exemptions: Native speakers of English do not need to submit proof. Students who have completed a university degree that was taught entirely in English only need to enclose a certificate by their previous university confirming that their entire tertiary education was conducted in English.
Qualification Requirements
Completion of a 3-year Bachelor's programme or equivalent (180 ECTS credits) in a health-related field or relevant health-related professional experience Proof of English Proficiency MScIH programme applicants additionally require at least one year professional experience after their first qualifying degree (usually the Bachelor’s degree). For admission any professional experience is fine. This is a general requirement for postgraduate studies in Germany. Relevant professional experience (i.e. professional experience gained in low- and middle-income countries) is a programme specific requirement that can still be obtained during the studies and that has to be proven in order to graduate.

Signed letter of motivation stating why you would like to attend the above-mentioned course and how this course will help you in your work and career (not longer than 1 page). Please note: This statement should not repeat what your CV or transcripts are stating. It should only explain your personal motivation for attending the MScIH programme (or any of the other study programme - DTMPH course, DIPH course or Core Course as guest student), your professional goals, your personal career objectives and how this course will help you in achieving them.
