Course description
In the English for Vocational Teacher Training sub-degree course, students build on the foundational knowledge and skills from their undergraduate English studies. This program focuses on both English literature and linguistics, ensuring a balanced approach to subject-specific training. Students engage in research-based learning, tackling current academic questions and theories. They develop, discuss, and write about these issues, honing their analytical and critical thinking skills. The didactic training component is crucial. It prepares students for bilingual teaching, intercultural learning, and effective language instruction. They also learn to integrate media into the classroom and understand the basics of school organization. This training emphasizes the interplay between subject-specific science, didactics, and pedagogy, encouraging students to reflect on and improve their teaching practices. By the end of the course, students are well-equipped to handle the complexities of vocational teaching, with a strong foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of English literature and linguistics. They are ready to foster an inclusive and effective learning environment for their future students.
