Course description
The master's degree program 'Energy and Environmental Management - Industrial Countries' equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to shape the future energy system. Addressing the critical challenge of man-made climate change, the program emphasizes the need to transition the global energy supply to 100% renewable sources in the coming decades. This shift is crucial to optimizing energy use and supply. Led by Professor Pao-Yu Oei and Junior Professor Frauke Wiese, the Department of Energy and Environmental Management (EUM) continues the legacy of Prof. Dr. Olav Hohmeyer, who transitioned to a senior professorship in March 2021. The EUM Master program boasts a dedicated team of 30 members, including professors, post-docs, PhD students, and student assistants. Together, they engage in interdisciplinary research projects focused on energy transition both in Germany and worldwide. The program's teaching and research efforts are centered on transforming fossil energy systems into 100% renewable energy systems. This transformation aims to limit the global average temperature increase to a maximum of 1.5°C by 2050. Qualification Requirements
In the event that an admission restriction is imposed, the following applicant selection terms and criteria will apply: The B.A. grade will be used for selection based on merit. If you do not yet have a B.A. degree, you will enter the selection procedure with the provisional grade. This provisional grade will be based on your transcript or a certificate from the examination office. If your provisional grade for the B.A. transcript changes after the selection procedure has been carried out, this will have neither a positive nor a negative effect on the admission decision. You may submit only one current grade record for consideration in the selection process.
