Course description
Biosphere reserves serve as exemplary regions for sustainable development. The international Master's programme in Biosphere Reserve Management (BIOM) tackles modern sustainability challenges with a holistic approach. We explore ways to balance conflicting land-use interests at the landscape level. We study both innovative and traditional land use practices. We compare various management and land use systems. In essence, we seek local solutions to global problems. In the BIOM programme, students delve into subjects like sustainable development, land-use management, and environmental conservation. They learn to analyze and implement both new and time-tested practices. The goal is to find effective strategies that address global sustainability issues while respecting local contexts. Our approach is practical and inclusive. We emphasize understanding diverse perspectives and fostering collaboration. By doing so, we aim to equip future leaders with the skills needed to manage biosphere reserves effectively and sustainably.
