Course description

The English-language Animation and Game Master’s degree program prepares students for leadership roles in the global media industry. In a dynamic, research-focused environment equipped with top-notch technology, students gain comprehensive skills in creating and developing digital games and animations. The program offers two specializations: 1. **Creative Direction Specialization**: This track combines key areas such as narrative design, game experience design, mise-en-scène, and animation and game studies into a project-based learning format. Students learn modern methods in creative strategies, leadership, and entrepreneurship, empowering them to bring innovative creative visions to life. In this program, students are immersed in a setting that encourages both creativity and technical proficiency, ensuring they are well-prepared to lead and innovate in the media industry.

Qualification Requirements

Applying requires a bachelor‘s degree in a related subject. The Master‘s program can be studied in 3 different versions, depending on the applicant‘s qualification. The 4-semester version requires a degree with 180 ECTS. A degree with 210 ECTS is required for the 3-semester version. A degree with 240 ECTS qualifies for the 2-semester version. In order to be admitted to the program, students must provide proof of English language proficiency at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Furthermore, a subject-related entrance exam for the chosen specialization must be passed. The entrance exam consists of two stages, whereby the 1st stage (portfolio exam) must be passed in order to be admitted to the 2nd stage (interview). A detailed description of the admission requirements can be found in the Special Provisions of the Examination Regulations (German) and in the Admission Regulations (German).
