Course description
Economic and technological advancements in the computer industry and telecommunications sector are marked by a growing synergy between hardware and software solutions, alongside the networking of systems. A diverse array of standards and technologies is in play. The merging of information and communication technology calls for a fresh, interdisciplinary educational approach. In the Communication Systems and Networks Master's degree course, the emphasis is on enhancing theoretical knowledge through scientific work. This program includes internships within individual modules, a research project, and engagement with scientific topics, all of which foster scientific, self-directed learning and working. The course is offered by the Institute of Communications Engineering at the Faculty of Information, Media and Electrical Engineering at Cologne University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in St. Augustin. The course's English-language orientation attracts a significant number of international students.

Qualification Requirements
Successful applicants hold a university degree in a suitable scientific or technological field with a minimum of 210 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). The minimum required grade is 2.3 (German grading system) or equivalent. The first-cycle degree is to provide the technical and specialist knowledge required to pursue the Master's program. A degree program is deemed suitable if it includes modules from the fields of mathematics, physics, electrical engineering and computer science worth at least 110 credits.
