Course description

To tackle climate change urgently, the energy transition stands as one of the most significant technological and societal challenges of our era. Ensuring a reliable, economical, and ecologically sound energy supply hinges on the efficient, secure, and dependable digitalization of a complex system. This system must integrate numerous fluctuating energy sources, consumers, storage facilities, and grid components, all of which are difficult to predict, into a stable and financially viable whole. The energy system is critical infrastructure, the backbone of modern society. Any failure or disruption could lead to prolonged supply shortages, major public safety issues, and other severe consequences.

Language Requirements

German language skills are not required for admission. In order to study this course at the University of Oldenburg, you need an adequate knowledge of English. English Language Proficiency see admissions regulations Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Level B2 if applicants have a university degree in an English-language degree programme obtained in a country with English or German as the official language (within the last two years) The proof of language proficiency must be presented for the enrolment.

Qualification Requirements

(1) A prerequisite for admission to the consecutive Master’s degree programme in Digitalised Energy Systems is that the applicant  has obtained a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in Computing Science, Business Informatics, Electrical Engineering or another previous degree relevant to information technology with predominantly technical and informatics subjects or another comparable degree worth at least 180 credit points, either at a German university or at a university belonging to one of the signatory states of the Bologna Process, or  has obtained an equivalent degree from another foreign university in a relevant subject worth at least 180 credits. Equivalence is established according to assessment proposals by the central office for foreign education at the Secretariat of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (www.anabin.kmk.org). If the previous degree programme was completed with a) at least 5 credit points in the field of object-oriented modelling and programming, b) at least 5 credit points in the field of information processing and c) at least 10 credit points in the field of mathematics, in particular linear algebra and analysis, the diploma will be considered suitable in content.
