Terms and Conditions for the Expatrio Scholarship Giveaway

1. Introduction
Welcome to the Expatrio Scholarship giveaway (the "Scholarship giveaway"). By entering the Scholarship giveaway, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

2. Eligibility criteria
2.1 The Scholarship giveaway is open to individuals who:
are 18 years or older as of the date of entry;

have accepted these Terms and Conditions for the Expatrio Scholarship giveaway and are familiar with Expatrio's privacy policy 
are new Expatrio Value Package customers. 
New Expatrio Value Package customers means (1) customers who have already, or will apply for the Expatrio Value Package, but have not yet activated their Health Insurance and Blocked Account; or (2) existing Expatrio customers who have already applied for only a Blocked Account, or only Health Insurance, and are now upgrading to the Expatrio Value Package.
will begin their studies in Germany in the winter semester of 2024.
submit a video entry to Expatrio before the end of 30. September 2024.
arrive in Germany and activate a blocked account and health insurance via Expatrio before 31. October 2024 
2.2. Employees of Expatrio, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and immediate family members are not eligible to participate.

3. How to Enter
3.1. To enter the Scholarship giveaway, participants must submit an original video answering the question Why are you passionate about the field of study you are pursuing in Germany? ("Entry") in mp4 format which is no longer than two (2) minutes in duration. 
3.2. Entries must be free of copyrighted content. Any video containing copyrighted material will be disqualified.
3.3. Entries must be in either English or German language or recorded in another language with English or German subtitles.
3.4. Entries must be submitted via the application form available at https://www.expatrio.com/expatrio-scholarship 
3.5. Only one Entry per person is allowed. Submitting multiple entries only saves the last Entry shall be considered.

4. Entry Requirements
4.1. The Entry must be the original work of the participant.
4.2. The Entry must not contain any content that is obscene, offensive, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate as determined by Expatrio in its sole discretion.
4.3. By submitting an Entry, participants grant Expatrio a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, distribute, and display the video in any media.

5. Selection of Winners
5.1. Ten (10) winners will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by Expatrio.
5.2. Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality, and including an answer to the Scholarship giveaway question.
5.3. Winners will be notified via email and/or phone within 30 days of the expiration of the deadline for submission.

6. Prizes
6.1. Each of the ten (10) winners will receive the following prizes based on the final ranking order determined by the Expatrio judging panel:

First place: EUR 12,000.00 (twelve thousand euro)
Second place: EUR 6,000.00 (six thousand euro)
Third place: EUR 3,000.00 (three thousand euro)
Fourth place: Three months’ rent up to a total value of EUR 1,050.00 (one thousand and fifty euro).
Fifth place: Buy your own laptop budget of EUR 800 (eight hundred euro).
Sixth place: German language classes up to a value of EUR 500 (five hundred euro).
Seventh place: Semester contribution fee up to a value of EUR 300 (three hundred euro).
Eighth place: Semester contribution fee up to a value of EUR 300 (three hundred euro).
Ninth place: EUR 250.00 (two hundred and fifty euro).
Tenth place: EUR 250.00 (two hundred and fifty euro)

6.2. Prizes are non-transferable.
6.3. Expatrio reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
6.4. For prizes based on expenses (such as three months’ rent or semester contribution fee), the value of the expense must be evidenced by a document showing the expense amount - e.g. rental agreement or semester fee proof.
6.5. Monetary prizes will be paid out to the same bank account the participant is using for their blocked account monthly payouts. 

7. Winner Obligations
7.1. Winners will be required to sign an agreement with Expatrio which may include, but is not limited to, a release of liability, confirmation of eligibility, and consent to use their name, likeness, and Entry for promotional purposes without further compensation.
7.2. Failure to sign the agreement within 14 days of receiving the contract from Expatrio will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.

8. General Conditions
8.1. Expatrio reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Scholarship giveaway if any fraud, technical failures, or any other factor beyond Expatrio's reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Scholarship giveaway, as determined by Expatrio in its sole discretion.
8.2. Expatrio is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by participants, tampering, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Scholarship giveaway.
8.3. Expatrio is not responsible for any technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software.
8.4. Participation in the Scholarship giveaway does not entitle participants to any of Expatrio’s services including the Value Package. 
8.5. Participation in the Scholarship giveaway does not entitle participants to any assistance by Expatrio for obtaining a visa to enter or reside in Germany.

9. Limitation of Liability
By participating in the Scholarship giveaway, participants agree to release and hold harmless Expatrio, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss, or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Scholarship giveaway.

10. Disputes
The Scholarship giveaway and these Terms and Conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with the Scholarship giveaway will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Berlin.

11. Privacy
Personal information collected from participants will be used by Expatrio for the purpose of administering the Scholarship giveaway and in accordance with Expatrio's privacy policy.

12. Sponsor
The Scholarship giveaway is sponsored by Expatrio Global Services GmbH.
