Founded in 1477, University of Tübingen played a leading role in the Reformation and the Enlightenment. It pioneered science teaching in the 1860s, in part thanks to it being the place where DNA was discovered. Nowadays, the school caters to almost 30,000 students, around 10% of whom are international students. 335 courses are spread across 7 faculties, with a huge breadth of options to choose from.
Over the years, 11 Nobel Prize winners have taught or researched at University of Tübingen, and the institution continues to figure prominently among the top 10 German research schools for physics, chemistry and biology. Specialist areas include neurological research and cellular biology with a strong emphasis on healthcare, and the university has excellent links with regional bioscience companies.
It has a long-standing reputation for catering for international students, helping to find work placements, offering numerous English language modules, and taking doctoral candidates from all parts of the world.
