Great news for students in Germany's universities!

The Government announced an extraordinary one-time payment of €200 to help offset the increased heating, electricity, and groceries costs for students enrolled in a German university on December 1, 2022.

This payment is available to all technical, international, and doctoral students. To apply for this payment, the Government has developed a digital application platform to make it easier for students to request it. The platform for this year's state grant of 200 euros to all students is finally in place, and the complete application will be accepted around mid-March. The application is made online, and you need to open a personal account for the online application. You can create an online account here.

To begin, tick the box at the start of the sentence labeled "Ich willige." Next, you will be presented with two account registration options:

  1. Register with a username and password.
  2. You can register using an electronic ID by clicking the second option, whereas those without a residence card can use the first option to register.

It's important to note that this payment is exempt from taxation so that students can enjoy the full benefit. This is excellent news for students struggling with the increased living costs in Germany, so take advantage of this opportunity! Check out the website to learn more about this payment and whether you're eligible.
